HA Furniture's Product Declared Safe for Kids by SGS Taiwan

❤ Formaldehyde Testing: Concerns about formaldehyde emission from wood materials used in decoration or construction may pose risks to human health and environmental damage. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified formaldehyde as a suspected carcinogen. The testing methods used in this trial are based on CNS 2215, confirming that our furniture is formaldehyde-free. (The samples were cut to the size required by SGS for testing.)

❤ Formaldehyde Testing: Formaldehyde has significant harmful effects on children. Therefore, we have conducted multiple testing methods. This trial is based on CNS 1349, using the general plywood testing method to ensure material safety.

❤ VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) Testing: Referencing US EPA 5021A, this test checks for the presence of volatile organic compounds in home environments. VOCs mainly come from paints, coatings, and adhesives. Therefore, we pay special attention to the surface coatings of our furniture to ensure user safety.

❤ Static Load Testing: This test observes any changes in the product after a static load is applied for 24 hours. For example, for a chair with a static load of 100 kg means the product remains intact even when a 100 kg person sits on the chair for 24 hours.

❤ Maximum Breaking Load: This test applies pressure using a machine to determine the weight at which the product will break. As it is impractical to have ten 100 kg strong men standing on the table and chairs, we have entrusted SGS to perform the test using a machine.

❤ Specific Chemical Element Migration Testing: The testing method used is CNS 4792-2, which determines the maximum allowable content and sampling methods for specific elements, including antimony, arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury, and selenium in toy materials and toy parts (excluding materials not easily reached).

❤ EU EN71-3 toy safety inspection, specific chemical element migration test (from the original eight heavy metals expanded to 19 items). Surface coatings are also crucial to prevent accidental ingestion of harmful substances by children during the oral phase.

❤ FDA 21 CFR 175.300 Tableware Testing: This test is conducted on the coatings used on children's furniture. Babies in the oral phase tend to chew on everything, so we need to be cautious about the coatings on furniture surfaces.

❤ Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS): RoHS is an environmental directive adopted by the European Union in February 2003. As it regulates "toys, leisure, and sports equipment," we conducted this test specifically on coatings. The test method used is IEC 62321.

❤ PAHs Class 1: This test, according to AfPS GS 2014:01 PAK, is for materials and toys used by children under 36 months old that may be placed in their mouths. GS stands for "Geprufte Sicherheit" in German, meaning "tested safety." GS certification is a voluntary certification based on the German Product Safety Act (SGS). It follows European Union standards (EN) or German industrial standards (DIN) for testing. PAHs have been confirmed as carcinogenic substances, and Class 1 testing requires no detection in materials and toys used by children under 36 months old who may put them in their mouths. Therefore, strict scrutiny should be applied to children's furniture for children's use.
